Why don't the cows moo at the dairy acrross the road?

its weird but we have been living across the road from a dairy farm for a few years. There are hundreds of cows and it very close yet i NEVER hear a single moo ! Have they fixed the cows to be silent or something, which if this is so, sounds very cruel indeed.
